Beautiful Ubud

We are back ten years since we were last here in beautiful Ubud. Whilst it has changed massively, with tons more stalls, boutiques (amazed and slightly upset there is a D&G rip-off store and real Abercombie and Fitch, and Ralph Lauren sold here!), restaurants, homestays, hotels, spas, bars and cafes, somehow Ubud manages to retain its unique warmth and individuality. We have just had a lovely dinner of tuna salad (47,000 Rps – about 3 quid) for me, and an orange and avocado salad for Will (33,000 Rps – about 2 quid) in Cafe Wayan & Bakery. It was delicious and a lovely way to try and start our post-Mandi and Dave detox. I remember we went to Cafe Wayan when we were here last time. But before it was one of a handful of restaurants in the whole of Monkey Forest Rd. Now it is one of maybe 40 or 50 and the street is side to side retail outlets. It’s so strange to see the changes but we still really love it here.

We are off now for a foot massage and then back to our homestay for an early night to catch up on our much needed beauty sleep. zzzzzzzzzzz. xxxxxxxxxx.
