I Can’t Believe…

  • quite how many bugs, stinging little biting things, spiders, flies, mosquitoes, critters, creepy crawlies, ants, aphids, roaches, grasshoppers, mites, lice, termites and general pests there are in this country. I have turned into a complete girl and think I am somewhere near to becoming that bumbling freaked-out Hugh Grant character in Sirens.
  • how ridiculously hot it is. Just give me some air to breathe. Per-lease.
  • that I failed dismally to speed-flirt for a second successive time, and instead wound up with a $200 (yes, that’s $200) fine for doing a somewhat conservative 114km/h in a 100. Such a moody policeman. Grrrr.
  • how massive the sky is down under. It really does take on this whole new snow-globe (minus snow) 3D feel. Clouds hide behind clouds and the sky just goes on and on and on forever.
  • quite how expensive Australia continues to be. There are downsides to not having experienced a recession. At least for us tourists.
  • that Mandi thinks SJP’s Oscars dress was hideous and unflattering, when in fact it was serene and beautiful.

  1. see previous comment on why Australians use planes and trains but dont do road trips…..and do recall Australai has 8 out fo 10 of the world deadliest and most unpleasant snakes, insects etc. Essentially it is one large and growing desert with some great cities (well 4 or 5) clinging onto the coast at the southern edge

    • Yes, it is quite a scary place!!! And jolly big! But it is fun to do a road trip!!

  2. come back to Sydney all will be better / less bitey / cooler / more expensive ! x Hope the driving is going well ? Are you taking in the “BIG” things in such as The Big Banana in Coffs. Australia is obsessed with them….http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia%27s_Big_Things

    • Funny you should mention that. I was just saying to Will yesterday that perhaps we should head back to Bondi Beach and freedom camp outside Dave and Bev’s house!! I’m sure your neighbours would love it. Haha. Haven’t yet seen any ‘BIG’ things, other than sodding big hairy insects. But we have Coffs still to go past. Love to Bev and Stuey (I mean Zack) xx
